Cotton residue, reimagined as carbon removal.
SmartCarbon at World Cotton Day 2026, Tashkent — showcasing how cotton residue becomes verified carbon removal through pyrolysis and biochar, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and ICAC.
Each year, millions of tonnes of cotton stalks are burned or left unmanaged across Central Asia. At the event, our team presented the Fergana Valley pilot: converting that same residue into biochar that restores salt-affected farmland and locks carbon away for centuries.
